Once a month, I conduct a workshop weekend or a retreat getaway.
Workshops are when a yoga studio invites me to teach at their studio, wherever it may be. They sponsor me and promote the event. Attendees are usually from the local area, but everyone is welcome as long as there is room. If you know anyone in an area where I will be giving a workshop and you want them to try yoga, please give them that particular workshop's "contact info."
A Bryan Kest Workshop is a short (4 Classes, 10 Hours) immersion in the “Practice of Yoga.” The workshop will have a practice that strengthens not just the body, but even more importantly, the qualities of our mind that actually have the largest impact on our physical well being.
The workshop will be a strong, well rounded, yet simple physical practice that leaves every nook and cranny in our bodies vibrating with vitality while challenging our minds in the sense of strengthening the qualities of mind that are most useful, positive and powerful, while eradicating the qualities of our mind that are harmful and stress inducing. It will strengthen qualities such as calmness, patience, focus, gentleness, gratitude, humility and acceptance, while weakening qualities such as judgment, competitiveness, distraction, reaction, and criticism.
If you feed qualities of mind, they will grow big and strong, and if you don’t feed them, they will weaken and die. Now since our physical practice is such a fertile environment for most all of these qualities to arise, our physical practice becomes an opportunity to strengthen the qualities we want to be strong and to weaken and eradicate the qualities we find harmful. If you want to know how Bryan does this, you will have to come and see because words cannot replicate the experience that is a culmination of almost 30 years of his own yoga practice called Power Yoga.
These trainings are dedicated to the philosophy & practice of PowerYoga with a slant toward sharing this practice with others. Most days are split between practice and a mixture of discourse, interactive dialogue and question and answer assignments. You will share this practice by teaching during our time together. We are focused and serious about the subject, yet the training and practice is light-hearted. Next Teacher Training Program information is available.
Retreats are when I personally create a "yoga vacation." I advertise and promote these in class, through a newsletter and, of course, here on poweryoga.com. We go to places that are interesting and spectacular, such as Maui and Peru. My retreat packages provide accommodations, food, transportation (usually with airfare) and yoga in one all-inclusive price.
Retreats are just that! We leave our "normal," everyday life and enrich ourselves with an exotic, earthy adventure. I like to describe our retreats as vigorously spiritual and totally amazing in every way. Just ask someone who has attended. My personal mission is to see to it that you have an amazing "trip!"
